Coming Home to Myself

Thank you for holding space for me and for your patience. It's been a while since I've written, but I always find myself returning here whenever I need to reconnect with myself and remember what really matters.

When I was younger, I used to wonder why wisdom seemed reserved for older people. Why couldn't we simply accept it when we were young and avoid learning the hard way?

As I've gotten older, I understand why.
Experience matters.

Wisdom isn't simply knowledge. It's the quiet accumulation of lived experiences, observing cause and effect, learning to regulate our emotions, and taking the time to reflect. It isn't something we're given—it is something we cultivate over time.

I'm not saying I've become wise. In fact, the older I get, the more I realize how much I still have to learn. What I am grateful for is that I've never lost my curiosity. I still wake up wanting to learn, to grow, and to become a little better than I was yesterday.

As a yoga teacher, that may sound contradictory. Yoga reminds us to be fully present, and I genuinely try to live that way each day. Yet my mind naturally wants to think twenty steps ahead. It's one of my greatest strengths, but it can also pull me away from the present moment. Lately, I've been learning another lesson. One that only experience seems to teach.

Not every situation requires a reaction. Not every opinion needs to be shared. Sometimes the greatest growth comes from practicing gratitude, focusing on what we can control, and quietly doing the work in front of us.

One of the greatest gifts in my life is being surrounded by remarkable people. Through work, friendships, and everyday conversations, I am constantly learning from others. Their experiences have shaped my own, and for that, I am deeply grateful.

This season of life has been incredibly full. I've spent so much time moving from one responsibility to the next that I've unintentionally created less space for reflection, creativity, and the passions that keep me grounded.

Perhaps that's another lesson wisdom teaches.

Growth isn't always about doing more. Sometimes it's about creating space. It's about listening to yourself before life forces you to. It's about remembering that rest, reflection, and joy are not distractions from the journey—they are part of it.

So this is my reminder to myself.

To slow down.
To stay curious.
To make time for the people and passions that fill my heart.
To fill my own cup—not because it's selfish, but because it's impossible to pour into others from an empty one.

I'm still learning. I hope I always will be.

Because I've come to believe that growth isn't only about moving forward.

Sometimes, the greatest growth comes from returning to yourself.
